Drill of the Day

This process takes years and must be taken very seriously. You never know when a threat will present itself and you will be called on to use your tools. But how do we get there? Practice, practice, practice.
- SGM (Retired) Kyle Lamb commenting on combat pistol shooting in his book Stay in the Fight!

Regular, Structured Practice to Build Muscle Memory

Practice puts brains in your muscles.Sam Snead

Our Range Drill of the Day (RDOD) is a fun, effective way to get the consistent practice needed to develop true competence with a pistol. The drills are programmed to address and improve:

  1. speed,
  2. accuracy, and
  3. weapon manipulation.

Each RDOD is scored or timed so that performance (individual and aggregate) can be tracked over time and evaluated to help us focus our efforts in terms of training and RDOD programming.

Firearms Training to Optimize Technique

Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect. Vince Lombardi

Practicing poor or less-than-optimal technique will ingrain bad habits. Our pistol training progression will help you avoid that.

We have a full range of pistol and rifle courses available to help you develop proper techniques so that your practice will be as close to perfect as possible. We also offer private lessons for shooters who prefer to work one-on-one with an instructor.

Does this all have to be live fire? Definitely not.SGM (Retired) Kyle Lamb, also from his book Stay in the Fight!

We post the RDOD to our website every day so that you can participate no matter where you're located. We include a link to the target needed for the drill. Just read the instructions, download and print the target, and head to your local range. After you shoot the drill, please post your score or time to comments for that day's RDOD.

Don't have access to a range? Our Dry-Fire Pistol Kit will allow you to get some practice in.
